The Story So Far

To find out what we have achieved and what we are planning, please see our About page.

Chesham lies on the River Chess in the South Buckinghamshire. Set in the Chiltern Hills, Chesham still has many of the beech trees that gave rise to its brush making industry. Once famous for beer, brushes, boots and watercress, Chesham is now generally a commuter town but still boasts a good number of unique shops.

With a population of more than 20,000 comprising about 8,000 households and over 100 shops in the High Street and Market Square - there are a lot of plastic bags in Chesham.

In March 2005, Chesham became the first Fair Trade town in Bucks. Let's make it the first Bucks town to go plastic bag free.
